ghost orange cream

Overview

Ghost is well known across the industry for their one-of-a-kind flavors and unique collaborations. And while their newest Ghost Legend All Out Pre-workout flavor isn't a collaboration product, Orange Cream most certainly delivers.

Let's talk about this formula and why this pre-workout is about as solid as it gets, shall we?

Blood Flow and Performance

Ghost kicks off the formula with 6,000mg full yield citrulline, which is composed of 4.52g L-citrulline and 1.48g citrulline nitrate. The combination of these two significantly increases a compound known as nitric oxide, which expands blood vessels and promotes blood flow. It does so through a few different pathways; citrulline indirectly converts to nitric oxide in the body, while citrulline nitrate is, well, even more citrulline paired with nitric oxide.

Betaine anhydrous dosed at 2,500mg acts as an osmolyte and controls fluid balance. This mechanism promotes cellular hydration, which is essential in performance training. One study showed that 2,500mg betaine supplementation over a two week period increased peak power during bench press . Another study showed that betaine also increased power output in cyclists during a twelve second split.

Lastly, Legend All Out features a clinical dose of beta-alanine at 3,200mg. Beta-alanine is responsible for the synthesis of carnosyn, a compound that plays a role in acid-base regulation within muscle tissue. As you exercise, lactic acid begins to build which can induce fatigue. Carnosyn helps to “buffer” these changes in pH by binding to hydrogen ions. This mechanism prevents a drop in pH and has been shown to prolong time to exhaustion and increase overall performance in the gym. Oh, and did we mention it’ll most likely make you tingle?

Energy

Legend All Out features a fully loaded energy complex comprised of four different ingredient; two of those being caffeine sources. The first caffeine source, caffeine anhydrous, is well known throughout the industry. It is 100% caffeine by mass, and Legend All Out just so happens to feature 300mg. The benefits of caffeine are backed by countless studies; it’s been shown to enhance energy, focus, and increase thermogenesis. Plus Legend All Out also packs in 100mg of ZumXr extended release caffeine which provides similar effects to caffeine anhydrous, but over a longer period of time. This unique mechanism helps to prevent that ever-so-dreaded crash.

This loaded formula also manages to pack in 200mg of theobromine. It’s a xanthine derivative found in cocoa beans that also provides longer lasting energy, but does not effect sleep scores to the same extent as caffeine anhydrous. Because of its longer lasting energy providing effects, it also plays a role in preventing crash towards the end of your workout. 200mg is right in the sweet spot to feel the effects, but also not over stimulatory.

The last energy providing ingredient in Legend All Out is Bitter Orange Extract dosed at 60mg. Bitter orange, or synephrine, is a thermogenic ingredient that is typically used in fat burners to increase fat oxidation. One study suggests that synephrine, when paired with caffeine, may be beneficial for muscular endurance. Overall, bitter orange will certainly provide an additional kick in the gym.

Focus

For focus, Legend All Out packs 2,000mg L-tyrosine; an amino acid that increases dopamine and noradrenaline levels within the body. Dopamine is an important neurotransmitter that aids in focus, cognition, and provides a slight euphoric feel. Tyrosine is one of the most popular nootropic ingredients on the market and is particularly useful when supplemented before bouts of acute stress, like working out.

To add on to that, 600mg of Alpha-GPC is included within Legend All Out. Alpha-GPC is an acetylcholine precursor that aids in focus, cognition, and muscle contractions. Like L-tyrosine, it is one of the most popular nootropic ingredients on the market, and deservedly so. Compared to other acetylcholine precursors like citicholine, choline bitartrate, and DMAE, it is much more bioavailable. This means that more of it is able to cross the blood brain barrier and be put to use. Alpha-GPC has countless studies backing the benefits behind supplementation, and it certainly makes for a solid addition to a pre-workout.

Miscellaneous

To round out the formula, Legend All Out packs a clinical dose of NuLiv Science’s patented absorption ingredient, AstraGin. AstraGin has many benefits and works well in almost any formula. It’s mechanism is fairly simple; it increases the number of transporter proteins within the gut. These transporter proteins bring nutrients to the wall of your intestine, which are then absorbed into the body to be utilized.

Studies show that AstraGin significantly increases the absorption of arginine, lysine, glucose, creatine, beta-alanine, choline, citrulline, BCAA’s, carnitine, and fatty acids. It essentially makes the ingredients in a product more bioavailable, which allows more of said ingredient to be absorbed and put to use.
