Cellucor's Reeses and Hershey's Protein
Cellucor is making big moves by teaming up with two of the most iconic names in the candy world: Reese’s and Hershey’s. Known for paving the way with their iconic C4 pre-workouts and energy drinks, Cellucor is marching into unmarked territory with these exciting protein collaborations, and it's most definitely turning heads. Reese’s and Hershey’s have been household names for decades, so naturally, these protein flavors come with quite a bit of hype. But with a partnership this big, there’s a lot more riding on how these taste than what meets the eye. Reeses and Hershey's Protein
Last week at the Olympia, I had the incredible opportunity to sit down with GHOST founder Dan Lourenco, and we covered a ton of ground. One topic that kept coming up was GHOST's legendary track record with authentic collaborations. If you're not familiar with GHOST, they’ve set the bar sky-high when it comes to partnerships, and the quality of their products always backs it up. We dove into all the unique collaborations GHOST has dropped over the years and even brainstormed some potential ideas for future ones. GHOST's success has undoubtedly shaped the game, inspiring other companies to hop on the collaboration trend. At this point of time, collaborations are almost considered a mainstream thing in the supplement space now.
But Dan brought up a great point: while collaborations are dope, they have to make sense—and most importantly, they have to be good. One bad collaboration can taint the rest of the collaborations for every company across the industry. That statement spoke to me, especially coming from a man who's built one of the most successful supplement companies on the planet. He also went on to praise other companies that have been nailing their collabs, although that's a topic for another day.
While I am in no way saying that Cellucor's protein collaboration with Reeses and Hershey's doesn't make sense or doesn't deliver, the fact of the matter is:
There is a lot more riding on it than it may seem, and for the sake of our industry, it has to be good.
The Scoop
Anyhow, Cellucor's Hershey’s protein comes in at 130 calories with 2g of fat, 3g of carbs, and 25g of protein from a whey concentrate and isolate blend. The Reese’s version is 140 calories, with 2.5g of fat, 4g of carbs, and the same 25g of protein. The macros are solid, but the fact that neither flavor has inclusions—no chocolate chunks, no bits of Reese’s cups—feels like a bit of a letdown. Both proteins are available on GNC's website at a price point of $44.99 for 28 servings.
Nonetheless, this collab has legitimate potential. Even without the extras, Cellucor stepping into the protein game with these iconic brands is a big deal, and for fans of Reese’s or Hershey’s, it’s worth a shot. Hopefully, they bring the same game-changing flavors they’re known for with their C4 line.
