Burger King is hopping on the gains TRAIN!
When you think “flame-grilled,” you don’t exactly think protein. But leave it to Burger King Brazil to flip the script — literally. They’ve just dropped a line of protein-packed milkshakes, proving that your post-workout gains might just come with a crown. It’s a move equal parts bold, hilarious, and kind of genius: fast food meets fitness fuel. The question is… are we really about to hit our macros in the same spot we order a Whopper?
Are they LOW Calorie.. or just normal shakes with a scoop of Protein?
Burger King Brazil’s “protein shakes” aren’t some diet hack. They’re just regular milkshakes with a scoop of whey protein mixed in. You're still getting all the sugar, all the calories, all the carbs but now your getting a scoop of whey mixed. So maybe post-workout cheat meal? (Glycogen Load...)
For example, the Doce de Leite (Dulce de Leche) shake clocks in at 593 calories, with 102g of carbs (90g sugar) and 24g of protein. That’s not a “low-calorie protein shake”… that’s dessert with a side of whey protein.
So if you grab one, think of it as more of a milk-shake with a small added benefit. Being that its still the same potently sweek shake ingredients, the protein will most likely be flavorless.
How's It Taste?🤔
Burger King Brazil rolled out the protein shake lineup in four flavors that cover all the classics: Chocolate, Strawberry, Dulce de Leche, and Crunchy.
Chocolate – Smooth, rich, and definitely the “safe pick” if you don’t want to risk it. Think classic chocolate milkshake vibes with a protein twist.
Strawberry – Sweet, fruity, and a little lighter on the palate. More of a refreshing option if you’re not in the mood for heavy dessert.
Dulce de Leche – The standout. This one’s the decadent, caramel-style flavor that really screams “Brazilian dessert” in a cup. Loaded on calories but probably the most unique in the bunch.
Crunchy – Basically a cookies-and-cream style flavor with bits mixed in. Adds some texture and makes it feel a little more like a dessert than just a shake.
Overall, they didn’t reinvent the wheel with flavor choices, but they did stick to what people actually want when they hear “milkshake.” If you’re going in, Dulce de Leche is the flex pick, while Chocolate and Strawberry are your safer plays.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I don’t think this is a bad or good thing — I’m pretty neutral on it. On one hand, it feels like protein is being thrown into everything these days, but honestly, that’s not necessarily a bad trend. If I ever end up at Burger King, I might grab one just to try it as a little bonus on top of a calorie bomb treat. But let’s be real — I’m not going out of my way for this. I can just throw something in my Ninja Creami, pack it with more protein, and customize it exactly how I want.
