Cellflo6
Cellflo6 is primarily used in sports nutrition to used to enhance blood flow, improve immunity, reduce oxidative stress, and improve metabolic health.
Overview
What is Cellflo6? Cellflo6 is a patented ingredient derived from green tea. Cellflo6 is known as an adaptogen; an ingredient that primes the body to overcome stress. The benefits of Cellflo6 are attributed towards its rich catechin content; more specifically, galloylated procyanidins, which offer a spectrum of health benefits:
- Cardiovascular Health: reduces inflammation, enhances blood flow by promoting endothelial relaxation, may improve recovery
- Metabolic Health: reduces dangerous cells known as free radicals, promotes weight management
- Immune Health: Enhances the body's defense mechanisms
The benefits of green tea extract were put to the test in a double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study conducted over the course of 4 weeks. Participants either consumed placebo or 980mg of green tea extract daily. Participants performed two repeated sprint tests following consumption and were subject to blood testing at three different intervals: at rest, 5 minutes following exercise, and 24 hours following exercise. Results showed that green tea extract played a role in the prevention of oxidative stress. However, no improvement in sprint performance or prevention of exercise induced muscle damage were experienced.
A similar study was conducted on soccer players whom consumed either green tea extract, sour tea extract, or maltodextrin. Like the previous study, results showed a significant reduction in oxidative stress, with no improvements in the reduction of muscle damage.
While the overall benefits of green tea extract are well documented, as far as sports performance goes, it would certainly benefit from further research.
